Youichi Ui´s century celebrations in Rio

Youichi Ui entered the 100 club in Rio last week as he clocked up a century of Grand Prix starts. The Derbi rider was honoured by his team with a small party on the eve of the race, when he was presented with a commemorative cake. It proved to be the highlight of the weekend for the Japanese veteran, who crashed out of the race to end hopes of repeating his 2001 victory.

Only two riders currently contesting the 125cc World Championship have started more races than Ui. Noboru Ueda has clocked up a total of 155, whilst Lucio Cecchinello is the second most experienced rider with 128.
