Marlboro Yamaha secure runner-up honours in the Teams´ World Championship

The final podium of the Teams´ World Championship was determined after the Skyy Vodka Australian Grand Prix. The Repsol Honda team had already secured the teams´ title in Motegi, and last weekend in Phillip Island, the Marlboro Yamaha Team has finally clinched the second position with one race remaining. With Biaggi and Checa taking the flag in 6th and 11th, the Marlboro Yamaha Team added 15 points to its tally and cannot be catch by the West Honda Pons team, despite Alex Barros´ roaring form. The Brazilian scored 20 points, but his team mate Loris Capirossi was forced to retire due to a mechanical problem.

From now on, the most interesting battle in the Teams´ World Championship will be the fight for the fourth place. The Telefonica Movistar Suzuki lie in fourth with an eleven points advantage over the Antena 3 Yamaha d´Antin team, which couldn´t count on Norick Abe last weekend. The Gauloises Yamaha Tech3 team is only four points behind the Spanish team. Thanks to Nobuatsu Aoki steady ride to take 7th in Phillip Island, the Proton KR team is 7th in the standings ahead of the Fortuna Honda Gresini and Red Bull Yamaha teams.
