Alzamora ends a disappointing season with podium honours

Before the start of the season, Emilio Alzamora was tipped as a Championship contender, after a promising debut campaign in the quarter litre class. Unfortunately, pump arm problems hampered the performances of the former 125cc World Champion, until he underwent surgery during the summer.

In Valencia, host of the last round of the season, he had the opportunity to finish the season in front of his fans on a high. The Honda rider equalled his season best of third position in Jerez. In the late stages of the race, he enjoyed an intense tussle with team mate Roby Rolfo, and took third position behind the italian rider. This result allows the Spaniard to take 7th position overall. ´It was a good race because I could give my fans a podium place. My team did a wonderful job and I have to thank them for this result. I raced with pride, for the public, the sponsor and the team. I´m really satisfied´.$$$

His team manager, Fausto Gresini, was pleased to see his two riders on the rostrum for the second time this year, as Rolfo and Alzamora also finished 2-3 in Jerez. ´I´m really excited because this was the last race of my 250 team, that is a class that for my team represented a lot of satisfaction and a big step forward in motorcycling, after Kato´s title last year. This double podium means that my team and my riders fought very hard for the whole season. I want to say bravo to everybody´.
