Proton Team KR target December dyno run for V5

With the four-stroke winter testing schedule well underway for many factories, intense development work continues at Proton Team KR headquarters in Banbury, England, where engineers hope to have their V5 engine assembled in the next week and ready for a dyno test in mid-December. Engine parts are still arriving at the factory but work continues at full pace on all components of the ambitious project, with the first track test targeted for the end of January.

`It is kind of a strange time at the moment because we are waiting for a lot of parts to come in, but hopefully we will have everything in place to begin assembly next week,´ said Managing Director Chuck Aksland. `We can´t really look ahead to track testing until we actually get the engine fired up on the dyno and see how it goes. That will really dictate the pace of development but we are hopeful of meeting our target of getting the bike on track before the IRTA tests in February.´

$$$ As the engine parts trickle through to the factory, the team are concentrating on building up the rest of the motorcycle and will have little time to rest over a busy Christmas period. `This machine is brand new, so the bodywork, chassis and everything else has to be built from scratch,´ continued Aksland. `We are working to get a couple of different chassis variations in time for the first tests and just basically making sure we have everything prepared. There won´t be much time to relax because there is so much work to do on the bike – but you would expect that with any new project of this magnitude.´
