Steve Jenkner expected to mount title charge with Exalt Cycle Race

Steve Jenkner makes a further step in his career by joining the Exalt Cycle Race team, that brought Arnaud Vincent to the 125 World Championship crown this year.

In 2002, the 26-year-old German enjoyed his best season in the class : he took 5th overall with five rostrum finishes, a steady improvement as he only scored two podiums in the previous five years. After a first GP appearance as a wild card in 1996, Jenkner quietly progressed before clinching his first podium last year, in Assen. He has been very consistent this year, with strong qualifying performances and regular top 10 finishes.

Those performances are now rewarded with a new two-year contract with German sponsor UGT, and increased support from the Aprilia factory. By joining the team managed by Fiorenzo Caponera, Jenkner will have the opportunity to fight for his first win or more... ten years after Dirk Raudies became the last German World Champion.
