Aprilia to give its 125 machine an overhaul

Italian manufacturer Aprilia is ready to re-hash its 125cc machine this winter, despite the fact that it won both the constructor´s championship and the rider´s title with Arnaud Vincent. The Italian machines took eight wins in 2002, and only failed to be on the podium on one occasion, at Assen, when Pedrosa, Poggiali and Olivé put their Honda and Gilera bikes ahead of Vincent´s Aprilia.

Jan Witteveen, General Racing Director for Aprilia, summed up the proposed changes, `We should say that although we will drastically change the bike, we are not doing anything revolutionary. We´ve got a new chassis and new suspension, and the overall shape of the bike has been restyled. There are new fairings with different aerodynamics, a new fuel tank and also an altered seat and tail section. When we made the decision to change the bike, simplicity was paramount; both in terms of the adjustments made and also as regards the teams being able to get the best set-up out of their bikes with the least effort possible´.
