Arnaud Vincent injured but in good spirits

If 2002 was an exceptional year for Arnaud Vincent, it´s ending had a final twist in the tail for the 125cc World Champion. The Frenchman broke his ankle in a Supermotard accident just a week before Christmas.

`A few riders were invited to take part in this Supermotard, at a small circuit close to Nice,´ explains Vincent. `Fabien Foret, Stéphane Chambon and a few others were there. I went out onto the track and crashed at about 40 km/h when the tyres were still cold. I fell badly and the ankle cracked´.

Preseason testing with KTM is on the horizon, so Vincent must work extra hard to get fit, although he is confident of recovering in time for the IRTA tests next month. `The injury does not completely ruin my physical preparation programme, in fact I am probably working harder than ever on it! At the same time though I am unable to do any type of motorsport´.

Despite the injury Vincent is still very much looking forward to making his debut with the Austrian factory. ´For the moment I don´t really have any news about the evolution of the bike. I will go to Austria before the end of this month to do some wind tunnel testing and begin work on building the bike around my dimensions and I fully expect to be ready for the IRTA tests ´.
