Yamaha looking forward to Valencia after Jerez washout

After three luckless days in Jerez, which saw Yamaha´s fleet of MotoGP riders kicking their heels in pit lane for much of the planned test, Carlos Checa, Marco Melandri (Fortuna Yamaha Team), Alex Barros, Olivier Jacque (Yamaha Gauloises) and Shinya Nakano (Yamaha Team d´Antin) head to Valencia on Saturday hoping for a change in fortune. Davide Brivio, Team Director of the Fortuna Yamaha squad, claims the weekend has taken on extra significance in the build up to the new season.

`We have essentially wasted two testing days but now we will have a chance to go to Valencia´, said Brivio. `At least we will return to Jerez for the IRTA test in February. I think we will have a chance to do some work then. Early feedback is important in winter but there is nothing we can do. Now we will evaluate whether we are able to slightly modify our testing plans before the first GP´.

All Yamaha riders will be at Valencia from the 25-27 January, except Jacque who is injured.
