Proton Team KR V5 engine roars into life

Proton Team KR were finally able to run their new V5 four-stroke engine on a dynamometer for the first time last Friday, with the 990cc motor roaring into life to provide the team of engineers with the first batch of data. The project had been held up by the late delivery of parts, including cylinder heads which had been expected before Christmas, but staff are now evaluating the information and performing initial post run hardware inspection. The team are unsure when the complete motorcycle will be ready to take to the track but hope to begin their crucial preseason testing programme next month.

`We´ve been through all of this before,´ said Team Owner Kenny Roberts `I am really happy to see it finally run. Now the hard and interesting work has just begun. It will be nice when we get it on the racetrack.´
