Teams clock up laps despite rain in Spain

The second day of IRTA tests for the 250cc riders in Jerez was largely spoiled by bad weather today, however with the majority of them not having had the off-season testing time granted to the 990cc machines, most teams did a substantial number of laps whilst their MotoGP counterparts took a rain check. Fastest rider in the class was Anthony West, but as with all the others was well behind his time from Friday. The Australian returns to racing in 2003 after a year away, but will be pleased with his progress on board his new Aprilia so far, today making a 1:47.935.

There were a few crashes today with the changeable conditions, including Manuel Poggiali and Katja Poensgen who were both taken to the medical centre. However they were later given the all-clear to ride tomorrow, when the IRTA test in Jerez comes to its conclusion.
