250 riders at the Estoril IRTA test

After sharing the Jerez circuit with their MotoGP contemporaries at the first IRTA test of the season, the 250cc riders followed the booming four-strokes down to Estoril, where many of the teams completed their official preseason programme. Despite changeable weather conditions which caused several crashes over the two days, most of the riders made admirable progress both in terms of their machine set-up and lap times.

Frenchman Randy de Puniet dominated the time sheets on both days aboard his impressive Aprilia 2003, whilst the surprise of the preseason, former 125cc World Champion Manuel Poggiali, demonstrated once again his rapid adaptation to the quarter-litre machine. Toni Elías improved on his disappointing showing at Jerez, clocking the third fastest time overall, whilst Honda riders Roberto Rolfo and Sebastián Porto completed the latest phase of evolution for their new RSW machines.

Now you can catch up with the action from the Portuguese circuit with this exclusive video.
