Max Biaggi bridge is opened in Doudleby

The town of Doudleby in the Czech Republic this week celebrated the opening of a new bridge across the river Malse, funded by money raised at the Gauloises Grand Prix Ceske Republiky in September. Each MotoGP rider had selected a local town to represent over the course of the weekend, and it was thanks to Max Biaggi´s victory that the people of Doudleby received almost €38,000 with which to replace the original bridge which was washed away by the intense flooding that affected many areas of the country last summer.

The money was raised through the collaboration of Dorna and the Autodrom Brno, who organised the unprecedented sale of paddock passes, and gestures donated by the MotoGP community all over the world after images were shown of the disaster alongside a bank account number on the live television feed.

The Max Biaggi bridge was officially opened by the Mayor of Doudleby, who then invited his subjects to cross the river Malse for the first time in six months.
