Casey Stoner: Making waves in his new class with the best time in Valencia

Under bright sunshine like the first day or with fog and worse weather conditions as witnessed yesterday, Casey Stoner dominated proceedings in Valencia for the 125 class. The Australian, who signed this year for the Safilo Oxydo LCR of owner Lucio Cecchinello, recorded the best time Wednesday onboard his Aprilia and yesterday bettered his time with a 1.39.7, very close to the 1´39.4 that Dani Pedrosa used to set pole in the GP last November sending out an effective warning to the rest of the riders in the category, such as his team-mate and boss Italian Lucio Cecchinello, who was second, less than a thousandth of a second away from his ´pupil´.

Derbi rider Emilio Alzamora could not ride yesterday after suffering a painful back as result of his crash on the first day. His team-mate Jorge Lorenzo took the fourth best time, just behind German Steve Jenkner and Dani Pedrosa in fifth nearly a second and a half away from the Australian and his Aprilia.
