Freixenet reaches the MotoGP podium as Official Cava

The first Grand Prix of the 2003 season at Suzuka, Japan, on the 6th April, will of course see MotoGP race winners celebrating their victories in the time honoured fashion, and this year they will be uncorking bottles of Freixenet, after the Spanish producers of sparkling wines and cavas agreed a deal to supply the Official MotoGP Cava.

The agreement between Freixenet, represented by Communication and Publicity Director Pedro Bonet, and Dorna Sports, who hold the commercial and television rights to the MotoGP World Championship, represented by CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, was signed today at the Circuit de Catalunya during the official MotoGP Winter Test.

Pedro Bonet explained: `When the chance to sponsor such an interesting and exciting championship as MotoGP came up, we had no doubt it was for us. This is a new adventure for Freixenet and we are thrilled. We just can't wait for the races tostart… and for us to be there´.

Freixenet is the world´s number one company in the production of quality sparkling wines and its products are available in 170 countries across the world. In the past, they have also been involved in sport events such as the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992, golf, cycling, tennis and sailing.

For their new participation in MotoGP, Freixenet have chosen, from their wide range of products, the internationally popular `Cordon Negro´ and its typical black colour bottles to represent them on the Grand Prix podiums. This soft and fresh cava will be part of the celebration for this year's MotoGP winners.

Meanwhile, Carmelo Ezpeleta commented: `For a World Championship such as MotoGP it is always interesting to welcome companies and brands with international interests and a presence in numerous countries, such is the case with Freixenet. I hope this new relationship with Dorna extends for many years and the riders enjoy celebrating their victories with Freixenet cava.´

The agreement between Dorna and Freixenet for MotoGP also includes the Motocross World Championship and the Spanish Championship (CEV).
