Derbi Racing team launch all Spanish affair in the World Championships

The presentation of the Derbi Racing team occurred this afternoon in the VIP lounge of the vast Grandstand overlooking the grid and MotoGP test in Catalunya; a fitting location for the squad with it\'s heavily emphasised Spanish roots.
A lavish launch to celebrate the alliance of the Spanish manufacturer, the title sponsor of Caja Madrid and native riders Emilio Alzamora and Jorge Lorenzo, was bustling with onlookers and curiosity.
General Manager Giampiero Sacchi commented that the 100% Spanish effort was a strong combination and, added to changes behind the scenes such as the re-development of the Derbi firm and new structure of the racing department, gave great cause for optimism in the 2003 125cc World Championship quest; one he remarked would be attempted with great ´force´.
To thumping dance music the introduction of both riders, followed by a short interview led to the unveiling of the ´03 race machines. Lorenzo, still only 16, commented that he was very happy and proud to be a part of the all-Spanish team and would go into the season hopeful and enthusiastic of gaining some good results.
The same optimism was conveyed by Alzamora. The 1999 World Champion referred to the differences he is facing having dropped down from two years in the 250s but also called the opportunity to front Derbi´s title aspirations as ´beautiful´. He spoke of gaining as many points as possible starting in Suzuka in a matter of weeks, and taking the Championship fight to the Japanese and Italian manufacturers.
