Proton to unveil V5 in London next Tuesday

Three times World 500cc Champion Kenny Roberts will reveal for the very first time in London on Tuesday, the Proton Team KR four-stroke motorcycle that will compete in this year's MotoGP World Championship. The British-based team have been working day and night at their Banbury headquarters in Oxfordshire, endeavoring to complete the brand new 990 cc V5 four-stroke machine that will be ridden by Ulsterman Jeremy McWilliams and Japanese rider Nobuatsu Aoki in this year's MotoGP World Championship.

It has not yet been confirmed that the bikes will be ready to ride in time for the first Grand Prix of the season at Suzuka less than two weeks after the presentation, indeed the two riders were forced to roll out last season's two-stroke 3 cylinder machines for the MotoGP Test at Catalunya last weekend. However, news of the launch is a welcome boost for the team, riders and their fans as the whole MotoGP community looks forward to a full grid of booming four-strokes in 2003.
