Ukawa and Ueda express their worries and prayers for Kato

Four days after his terrible accident at Suzuka, Daijiro Kato remains in a serious condition. The only change in the state of the Japanese rider, who has injuries to his head, neck and chest, is the strengthening of his heartbeat and pulse, which are now stable. HRC colleague and close friend Tohru Ukawa was one of the many fellow riders who went to visit Kato in hospital, and he today commented: `Although they allowed me into Daijiro´s room, I preferred not to see him in this condition. I am very sad. I am praying hard for him, so that he recovers as soon as possible.´

Ukawa´s prayers are shared by another of Kato´s close friends, Nobby Ueda, who also visited the hospital. `On Sunday as soon as I finished working as a television commentator I went straight to the hospital and I spoke with Kato´s family. It is incredible that an accident like this can happen. I guess the bike was out of control because I really don´t know what else could have caused this. Now Daijiro is fighting for his life, he has improved slightly and I am praying he wins the battle´.
