Pitt heads to Europe one step closer to the points

Andrew Pitt finished the Arnette Africa´s Grand Prix just outside the points, crossing the line in sixteenth – one place ahead of his team-mate Garry McCoy. It was a role reversal for the Kawasaki pair, with former World Supersport Champion Pitt improving his placing at round one in Suzuka by one and moving to within striking distance of the points.

`I got a good start, and a little later in the race I even managed to get past Suzuki rider John Hopkins for a while,´ said Pitt, who now heads to his base in Europe to tackle the core eleven races of the MotoGP season. `Towards the end, I just couldn´t match the pace any more. It would have been good to get a point or two – that was what I was riding for.´

`The whole weekend was very difficult for me. I tried the best I could in the race, but we had a tyre that was chattering which we hadn´t got all weekend. I had to be especially careful in the beginning, because after the oil spill of Kenny Roberts, the Ducati of Loris Capirossi in front of me also tipped oil in every corner. I just wanted to finish the race, and I´m glad I did!´
