Roby Rolfo satisfied with second at Jerez

Roberto Rolfo confirmed his progression with the new Honda RSW with his first podium of the season in Jerez. Despite being one of the victims of Toni Elías´ stunning late charge, the Italian was satisfied with second place in the race, a result which also moved him up to second in the championship. Rolfo is still waiting for new parts in order to boost the top speed of the Honda, but they should arrive in time for Mugello.

`In the warm-up I made some last minute changes which turned out ot be really important in the race,´ said Rolfo. `I got a good start and was able to match the rhythm of the lead group. The bike was responding well and over the first laps I made sure that De Puniet and Poggiali did not escape. It wasn´t easy because I had to make up time in the `rider´ sections because I was losing time on the exit of each corner and on the straights. I realised I was quicker at certain points. At the end it was a real battle and I came really close to winning. Even though he wasn´t in peak physical condition, Elias had a great race in front of his fans. Personally, I am happy with the weekend overall – the team did a great job and I appreciate that.

`This second position is a starting point as we wait for new parts, which will be fundamental at some GP´s this season. Next up is Le Mans – a circuit where acceleration and top speed often make the difference… we´ll see. Whatever is missing from the engine I will make up for with more gas!´.
