Valentino Rossi (1st): `I´m happy with the lap time and the set-up of the bike but we have some modifications to make for tomorrow to make the bike work better. We will make some adjustments to the brakes and we have some work to do on finding the best solution for the tyre choice – but today was good. The team worked well and we found a good fast early rhythm.

Alex Barros (2nd): ` The Yamaha is good here and the tests we did in Mugello straight after Jerez have clearly paid off. In addition this is the first time since my crash in Suzuka that I feel OK on the bike. Unfortunately I made a little mistake right at the end of the session, crashed and didn´t have time to try the tyre I had intended to use for my qualifying time.´

Loris Capirossi (3rd): `It´s been a horrible week for me, I had to go to hospital in Monte Carlo on Tuesday. They did some tests and diagnosed intestinal problems, but I was still ill when I came here. They managed to help me in the Clinica Mobile yesterday, and though I´m still not 100 per cent, I´m very happy with today´s result.

Marco Melandri (4th): `I feel physically better here than Jerez and I hope to keep improving - my leg feels a bit tired but it´s getting better all the time. I quite like this track and the Yamaha bikes go well here. We have a good braking system that is very precise and stable and the bike feels generally great, I like it a lot.
