Tissot launch the first Official MotoGP Watch

Official MotoGP timekeeper Tissot today underlined its commitment to the sport as they launched the first Official MotoGP Watch licensed by Dorna Sports. The Swatch group, who own the Tissot brand, have provided the timekeeping facilities for the MotoGP World Championship since 1992 – the same year that Dorna Sports acquired the television and commercial rights to the series.

Only 2003 units of the new model will be produced, with a luxury numbered limited edition of 999 units available. François Thiébaud, President of Tissot, today presented the new watch alongside Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO Dorna Sports, and five-time 500cc World Champion Mick Doohan, who was presented with unit number 54 of the limited edition series in honour of his total Grand Prix victories. A further unit will be awarded to the MotoGP rider who accumulates the largest number of Pole Position Awards.

`MotoGP, with its emphasis on technical precision and human performance, is for us a perfect vector for conveying the values of the Tissot brand,´ commented Mr Thiébaud. `There is no better way for us to underline this than in creating a watch 100% dedicated to the sport.´

Mr Ezpeleta added: `We are very happy to be associated with the most important watch manufacturer in the world. It is an important day for our sport. We hope this limited edition watch proves to be very popular, and I would like to say thank you to Tissot on behalf of MotoGP.´
