Quotes from the front row after Saturday's action in Catalunya

Valentino Rossi, pole position:

´It will be very difficult with this heat tomorrow because the tyres will be spinning and sliding everywhere. We started preparing for this yesterday, and tyre choice will be crucial for the race because after six or seven laps it will be a case of who can last the distance The guy who wins will be the one who has enough traction to still go 100% at the end.
The conditions are hard for the riders also. This is the second race in a week and it can be tiring. The four-strokes can get very hot. Today my feet were burning! Stopping the bike at the end of that long straight for 25 laps can be tough.´

Loris Capirossi, 2nd position:

´The conditions were hotter today than yesterday and we carried on working with the good settings we had from the first sessions. This place is not easy for the life of the tyres and we practiced this morning on getting a good rhythm for the race. The rear tyre will take some punishment at this track because of the all the long and fast corners.´$$$ Olivier Jacque, 3rd position:

´At the beginning we had some problems with the set-up but it got better by the middle of the session and I was surprised by how much we managed to improve. We have worked a lot with the bike so my confidence was good and I got a quick lap on my first attempt. The start of this season was pretty bad but I took my time to adjust to the bike and get better.´

Sete Gibernau, 4th position:

´We had some problems with chatter and we need to work on this. Finding grip will be hard. The team should know why we have this small problem and this should help us with the final set-up for the race. Most of the riders cannot push 100% at the start because we will need reserves both physical and from the tyres to last the race. It will be difficult to pass because with temperatures like this to go wide off the line can be risky with the rubber.´
