De Gea takes CEV victory at Albacete

David De Gea shrugged off the disappointment of his failed mission impossible riding the antiquated two-stroke Sabre V4 at the Cinzano British Grand Prix last weekend as he stormed to victory in the third round of the CEV Fortuna Spanish Championship at Albacete on Sunday. The WCM rider was clearly glad to be back on a four-stroke as he guided a Suzuki GSX-R1000 to victory ahead of former Grand Prix star José Luis Cardoso in the Formula Extreme category. It was De Gea´s second successive victory in the series and it gives him a 28 point advantage over José Fernández at the top of the championship.

De Gea´s WCM team-mate Chris Burns was also due to be in action this weekend at Mondello Park in Ireland having signed a deal to contest the remainder of the British Superbike series with the Virgin Mobile Yamaha team. However, the unlucky 23 year old was unable to race as he struggles to recover from a collarbone injury in time for this week´s Cinzano Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at Sachsenring.
