Max Biaggi takes part in a celebrity football game to raise money for leukaemia patients

Some 9,000 spectators were at the Francioni de Latina stadium in Rome last Friday to support a charity football game featuring some of their favourite sports stars and celebrities. Max Biaggi led a star studded team including Michael Schumacher, Giancarlo Fisichella, and Felipe Massa against a group of journalists from major Italian television channel RAI Sport. Over 60,000 euros were raised and the money is to be donated to the Andrea Tudisco charity, a foundation set up in the name of Biaggi's cousin, who died from leukaemia at the age of ten.

"I feel very happy – the people of this region are always sensitive towards charity events," said Biaggi. "The money raised allows the charity to continue its good work with a Ludobus, which can attend sick children in their homes, and with a second refuge home for families with economic problems. In the Ludobus we will have a family from Romania and one from Kosovo´.

F1 World Champion Schumacher, who scored one of the goals in his team's 3-2 victory, added: `I am very satisfied. I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to all those who came – I was not expecting so many people´.
