Five local riders set to run as wildcards in the Skyy Vodka Grand Prix of Australia

Five Australian riders have been invited to participate in the 250cc Skyy Vodka GP of Australia taking place this weekend at Phillip Island. Taking on the world's best will be Brett Underwood (Yamaha) who runs as part of the squad baring his name, Team Underwood K1 Racing, Mark Rowling (Yamaha) of the Turramurra Cyclery setup, Peter Taplin (Honda) of EMS Racing, Geoff Hardcastle (Yamaha), from Hardcastle Communication Racing and Rodney Cam (Honda), representing Awesome Disc's Racing.

Two of the riders have previously tried their hand at a 250cc GP in their homeland, even though their results were low-key. Peter Taplin raced as a wildcard last year, that time also steering a Honda, but could not clock a time good enough to make the starting grid. Mark Rowling was a part of the GP in 2001, but classified 31st after pulling out of the action on the eighth lap.
