A busy week for Chaz Davies at the NEC

A busy week for Chaz Davies at the NEC

Even though the season finished three weeks ago I have to say that I haven't had much time to think about it because I've been really busy with different promotional events in the UK. Last week I was down in London at the BBC doing something for a television programme, and this week I've been at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham for the Motorcycle and Scooter show. It was great to meet British bike fans after a hard year travelling around, and it was good to catch up with other riders such as Neil Hodgson and Shane Byrne, who we'll be seeing a lot more of next season in the Grand Prix paddock. We did a few chat shows together and things like that and they both seem like really good guys.

Back at home I've also been keeping myself busy, although I haven't really started my preparations for next season yet. I bought myself a new computer and a video editing programme, which is a bit of a hobby, and I'm looking at getting a supermoto bike. My parents run a go-kart track, so a supermoto would be ideal for training on over the winter. I have tried supermoto a couple of times before on friends' bikes, but I've never really pushed it that hard. It would be fun to have my own bike – I'd rather crash that than somebody else's!

With regard to next season, we're still trying to work out a deal with Aprilia Germany. Like most things nowadays it depends a lot on money, but we are fairly close to sorting something out and I am hopeful we will be hearing from Dieter Stappert soon with some more information. I am keen to stay with the team because I think we made a lot of progress this year and I feel very at home. It would be a real shame to let that go to waste, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it can be finalised sooner rather than later.

Hopefully the next time you hear from me I'll be preparing for my first tests of the winter!
