Troy Bayliss ready to return to testing

Just three weeks after a shakedown test at Valencia after the final race of the MotoGP season, Troy Bayliss admits he is already itching to get back on board his Desmosedici and begin preparations for 2004. The Australian has been spending valuable time at his European home in Monaco since the season's end, but will be back on track at Jerez next week for a two-day test alongside his team-mate Loris Capirossi and Aprilia debutant Shane Byrne.

"It's been a bit quiet recently but I'm not complaining, the only bike I've been riding has been my pushie," said Bayliss, who has been able to catch up with his newborn son Olly. "The weather around here has been not too bad, around 18 degrees or so with a bit of sunshine and a bit of rain thrown in as well. Christmas is getting close and the kids are getting keen on spending some time in Australia. It's been one year since we've all been there together so it should be good to catch up with everyone. It'll also be nice to introduce Olly to all our family and friends but there's still a bit of work to do here first though.

"On Sunday I leave for a test in Jerez. I can't wait to hop back on the bike again because we had a great test in Valencia and I'm ready to give it another real good thrashing down in Spain. Usually by the last race of each season I've had enough but then after a few weeks I'm chomping at the bit to go racing again!"
