McCoy moves to WSB while Riba heads to the UK

Ex-GP winner and Kawasaki campaigner during 2003, Garry McCoy, has left the MotoGP World Championships to ride as a member of the NCR Ducati World Superbike team. The Australian renowned for his spectacular riding style has severed ties with the Japanese firm after a difficult season in which he only scored 11 points.

McCoy had struggled to demonstrate the form that clinched 3 GP wins in the 2000 season since the Championships moved into the new four-stroke era. He replaces another former GP winner Regis Laconi in the Italian team who has moved to take the seat in the factory Ducati WSB squad vacated by MotoGP rookie Ruben Xaus.

A brief and less than glorious stint in MotoGP one year ago riding a 500cc Yamaha Spaniard Pere Riba is now heading towards the UK as the main rider in the Kawasaki Supersport effort. Riba singed up to the D'Antin team as a late replacement for Alex Criville and managed a best result of 13th among a spate of crashes.

Riba could be joined by Nori Haga if the rumours that the Japanese Aprilia rider is to remain with the Italians but contesting the British Superbike series, are seen to be true.
