Jenkner wraps up 2003 season with party for fans at Sachsenring

Germanys top GP racer Steve Jenkner, who won his first World Championship race this season and was the first rider from his country to stand on top of the podium in all three classes since Ralf Waldmann in 2000 hosted an unusual party for his fans and supporters at the Sachsenring circuit last weekend.

The factory Aprilia rider who scored six podiums during the year and finished sixth overall in the 125cc series used the venue of the German GP to set up a celebration of his achievements which was attended by over 200 fans, media, his fanclub, 50 sponsor representatives and his Italian team.

The event was punctuated by large screens showing action images of Jenkner throughout the season and along with guest of honour Waldmann the pair dressed up as members of popular national TV show Side by Side.

I wish I could have had some kind of party like this when I was racing, commented Waldmann from the stage while Jenkner remarked to the crowd: If our success in 2004 allows us then we will make an even bigger attraction next year.

Jenkner is set to once again steer a factory Aprilia machine for the upcoming season and will have Marco Simoncelli as a new team-mate.
