> Dani Pedrosa, who won the 125cc GP in France last year, starts from pole position for the first time in the 250cc class.

> Pedrosa is the second youngest ever rider to start from pole in the 250cc class, after Marco Melandri.

> Pedrosa's pole position time is the fastest ever lap of the Le Mans circuit by a 250cc machine, 1.78 seconds faster than the previous pole record set by Fonsi Nieto in 2002.
