Biaggi undergoes check-up in Italy

Max Biaggi is in Imola this week for a medical check up from Dr. Claudio Costa on his left foot, which is recovering well from a complicated operation in France earlier this month. The Italian is still unable to walk but will have his stitches removed and will be able to return home to Montercarlo within a couple of days to continue his rehabilitation programme with his physiotherapist Marino Laghi.

Biaggi, 33, was injured in a supermoto accident on the 6th Novemver and was operated on three days later to repair a displaced fracture of the fibular malleolus and an intra-articular displaced fracture of the body of astragalus of his left ankle.

It was such a complicated process that two medical teams, one directed by Professor Jean-Yves Coillard and the other one directed by Dr. Philippe D'Ingrado with the assistance of Doctor Costa were employed. Two Herbert screws were inserted in the astragalus and another one in the fibula to fix the fractures.

Whilst Biaggi misses out on HRC tests at Jerez this week, Clinica Mobile staff are confident he will be fit for the first sessions of the 2005 preseason at Sepang in January. Biaggi will undergo his next medical on the advice of surgeons at the Clinique du Parc in Lyon, France, on the 17th December.
