Dani Pedrosa moves to London

Dani Pedrosa will be dealing with a slightly colder winter than he is used to after swapping his native Barcelona for London, where he has set up residence this month.

After an intense season travelling the world and, more recently, dealing with sponsorship and media requests in Spain, the 250cc World Champion has moved into a house in the Notting Hill area of the English capital and divides his time between sightseeing and brushing up on his language skills.

"Basically I came here to spend winter, to learn English and try to get rest, relax my mind and have a nice time here," explained Pedrosa, who has been joined in London by his best friend, former 125cc and 250cc Grand Prix rider Raul Jara. "I've met some people and well, it's a bit cold here, but I like this city and also it's nice to change sometimes country.

"It's quite different, it's cold and the people are very different to Spain over here, and normally at the beginning it's difficult to get used to all these things, but now I'm coming more used to it I take always the bus and the Tube to move around London, so it's nice."

Not for the first time, 125cc and 250cc World Champion Pedrosa has followed in the footsteps of his MotoGP hero Valentino Rossi, who moved to London several years ago to escape the attentions of the Italian press.

"I didn't talk to Valentino yet but I hope one day I can phone him and meet here around this square and have a nice time for a while," said Pedrosa, who added that he plans to spend Christmas at home in Barcelona before returning to London in the New Year.
