Aki Ajo pleased with new recruits

The Ajo Motorsport team will line-up two rookies this year: Alexis Masbou and Tomoyoshi Koyama. Both already have a few GP appearances on their curriculum, but they will compete in their first full 125 World Championship this year with the Finnish team.

After the first two test sessions held last week in Spain, team manager Aki Ajo is enthusiastic about his new recruits and their potential.

"We had a first test session in Cartagena the weekend before the Jerez test," explained Ajo. "So far, we only had five days of testing, but the first contact with the new riders was promising."

"It will be the first full season of Alexis Masbou and Tomoyoshi Koyama, but both have already shown their qualities during the tests."

"Alexis is young, he's only seventeen, but he proved to be a mature rider as he already has a strong technical background and a very professional behaviour. His two coaches, Alain Bronec and Nicolas Dussauge, are also a great help for him."

"We already knew Tomoyoshi as he spent several years with Yamaha and entered a few Grand Prix as wildcard. Even if it's his first full season, we can't say he lacks experience."

"Our riders are young and have a good potential, so I guess the ‘Rookie of the Year' title will be our goal," added Ajo. "We still have the Official Tests so we can get ready for the start of the season, and I hope we will perform well."
