Rossi's mechanic explains the Doctor's winning formula

This year Valentino Rossi again proved his supremacy in the premier class by clinching a fifth consecutive title, but this latest success was also shared by the members of the Gauloises Yamaha team and Rossi's loyal crew of mechanics, 'the Burgess boys'.

Belgian mechanic Bernard Ansiau is one of them having worked with revered chief mechanic Jeremy Burgess for many years, firstly with Mick Doohan at Repsol Honda and subsequently with Valentino Rossi when the Italian moved up to the premier class.

Whilst his is a pressured and testing position, Ansiau admits that working with Rossi, one of the best riders of Grand Prix racing history, is a privilege.
"Working with Valentino is something very special. Beyond the sheer satisfaction of getting great results, beyond his talent and qualities as a rider, it's really great to work with such a nice and funny guy," says Ansiau. "Even if we have to work very hard, we have a lot of fun, we really enjoy working with him and as a result there is always a great atmosphere in the team."

Having developed a special relationship with Rossi, the Belgian is also one of the best-placed to explain his domination over the MotoGP category and the other riders.
"Compared to other riders, the thing that characterizes Valentino the most is his determination, his will to win every race," continued the mechanic. "Whatever difficulties may arise, he always manages to overcome them to finish on the podium almost every weekend. He's able to focus very seriously on his job and that allows him to shine even in adversity. He's not afraid by the amount of work required to achieve the results he aims for, he worked really hard to get where he has."
