Honda´s 250cc riders gather in Montmeló

Honda´s top two teams in the 250cc category took part in a day of training at Montmeló this Tuesday, their first test of 2006.

Repsol Honda, with their new riders Sebas Porto and Shuhei Aoyama (brother of Hiroshi and the Japanese factory´s newest hope for the future), alongside the Humangest team-with their returning riders Andrea Dovizioso and Yuki Takahashi-attended the test at the scene of March´s first Official Test of 2006.

The riders took to the track just after 11.30am, hoping that the asphalt would reach the temperature required in a stable session with sporadic sunshine.

The best time came from Argentine Sebastián Porto, with a lap of 1´48.4, half a second faster than the Italian Andrea Dovizioso. The four representatives of the quarter litre category were able to try the new version of Honda´s 250cc bike, with which they will compete this season. Their laps were far from last year´s fastest lap, Dani Pedrosa´s 1´47.373.

Along with all these riders, schoolboy Bradley Smith also took to the track. The runner up in last year´s Spanish Championship worked hard during the day on the bike he had used last season with the MotoGP Academy and awaits the new model in a couple of weeks.

As yesterday´s session was suspended due to rain, the teams will again have a session on Wednesday.
