Disappointment for KTM 125cc

The Red Bull KTM team experienced disappointment in Turkey, thanks to Mika Kallio's bike breaking down on the final laps of the Istanbul race when he was fighting for the win, and the enforced drop down the field suffered by Julian Simon when he crashed on lap four whilst in sixth.

Kallio stated at the end of the race that "really the race was going pretty well up until lap 14. Even I was surprised that the KTM could go round at that speed after just a few adjustments. We found a good race tyre which was harder than what we have previously used. But a short while from the end I found that the bike wasn't responding."

Harald Bartol expressed his disappointment with the setback and pinpointed a possible electronic problem.

Simon lamented his early fall to the floor, which stopped him from fighting for the top spots.

"I didn't have a bad start and if I had been able to carry on in the lead pack if I hadn't crashed on lap four. I pushed as hard as I could and fought as hard as I could. On the last lap I came across a number of backmarkers. This had a knock on effect on me and made me finish eleventh when I could have moved up to eighth. In any case, the bike was responding well."
