Barbera takes maiden 250cc win

After earning his first pole position in the 250cc category, Hector Barbera was the victor in the quarter litre category race in Shanghai. The Spaniard beat Andrea Dovizioso after a hard fought battle from start to finish, two tenths ahead of his rival and some three seconds faster than third-placed Hiroshi Aoyama.

Dovizioso continues to occupy the top spot in the overall classification, ahead of Barbera, whilst Jorge Lorenzo drops to third after his fourth place finish in China.

After a strong start, Alex de Angelis was forced to retire after going onto the grass on the second lap. Another retiree was Sebas Porto, who was struggling at the bottom end of the leaderboard before entering the pits.

Outside the podium positions, Jorge Lorenzo, Yuki Takahashi, Marco Simoncelli and Shuhei Aoyama all finished inside the top ten, alongside Friday´s provisional poleman Anthony West and Czech star Jakub Smrz.
