Riders sample Italian delights

Marco Simoncelli, Simone Corsi and Mattia Pasini had a very unique experience ahead of the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM at Mugello on Thursday, visiting a local farm to learn the finer points of dairy production methods.

MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli and Moto2 stars Simone Corsi and Mattia Pasini made some extra special preparations ahead of their home race at Mugello, the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM, which takes place this weekend as they visited the nearby Fattoria Il Palagiaccio on Thursday.

The 13th century castle hosted the trio as they learned how to make Ricotta cheese and milk a cow, providing plenty of amusing photo opportunities, and they also took part in the final stages of making ice cream. Following that the riders visited the caves on the farm where the cheese is left to mature.

“It’s been a very good experience,” said San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Simoncelli. “We’ve made cheese and ice cream – I ate some of the ice cream – and it was a nice relaxed day before the practice sessions start tomorrow (Friday).”

Simoncelli continues in search of his first premier class podium result, and added: “My feeling is very good. I love the Mugello circuit, Italy which is my country, and so I hope it will be a very good weekend for us.”
