Gradual progress for Edwards and NGM Mobile Forward Racing

Colin Edwards is satisfied with the latest steps taken by NGM Mobile Forward Racing, but insists that the 2013 MotoGP™ year is a step-by-step progression. For this season, the American has traded in his CRT Suter BMW for an FTR Kawasaki.

As testing continued in Malaysia last week, Edwards completed proceedings in 20th position overall and 1.3 seconds off the quickest CRT lap time.

“Honestly, it was good,” he told during a video interview. “Every time we put the bike on the starter, it started – so that was a good sign! Every time we made a change to the chassis we could actually feel the difference, so that’s also a good sign. The chassis feels great and the engine strong but the electronics are the big issue right now, just trying to get it to feel consistent.”

When asked what his plans are for the next gathering at Jerez, Edwards replied:

“Right now we’re just thinking about the flight out of here! Jerez will be about seeing how the FTR reacts there. We have a couple of different chassis we’re playing with – one that I really like – so hopefully it will work there."

Edwards is now joined by Italian Claudio Corti, who – after a maiden MotoGP™ ride in Valencia last year - becomes his teammate by stepping up from Moto2™.
