Tenth-placed Bradl still confident over race setup

Tenth-placed Bradl still confident over race setup

The end of Friday’s third practice session brought much drama at Losail, as a flurry of lap times were delivered as riders fought for places in Q2. Stefan Bradl escaped elimination by just under two tenths of a second.

Although he was tenth on Friday, Bradl could still qualify in any position from pole to 12th as the Q2 shootout takes place on Saturday night. However the LCR Honda MotoGP rider is more focused on race pace and for this reason remains upbeat.

"From the beginning of the session we worked on a race setup on used tyres and we thought we found a good direction," the German explained.

"But, towards the end when we fitted a new rear tyre, the extra grip affected the balance of our bike and I had to push the front in every corner entry; so I was not capable of keeping the corner speed and risked a crash couple of times.

"However, this is just FP3 and we will have more track time tomorrow to fine-tune the bike, so I am still confident."

Whereas the majority of the MotoGP™ field is running Brembo brakes, Bradl – who took the Qatar Moto2™ pole and race win in 2011 - has elected for Nissin discs.
