Aoyama discusses first contact with Michelin tyres

Speaking to motogp.com during his recent participation at the Andorran GSeries BPA, official HRC test rider Hiroshi Aoyama spoke about his new role in the world of MotoGP™, as well as his first contact with the Michelin tyres that will take over in 2016.

Having tested the 2015 RC213V only once on Michelin tyres in Sepang at the end of last year, Aoyama was cautious not to draw too many conclusions: “I felt quite comfortable with the bike, and also with the tyres. I think I made quite a good start with HRC. Conditions were very, very hot and it wasn’t easy, but the tyre performance was already quite good.

“Of course we have to analyse and try to improve a little bit on the chassis or bike side, also together with the tyres. We have one year to adapt to the Michelin tyres and to see how things are going on.”

Aoyama will be at all pre-season MotoGP™ tests, which will feature at least one day of testing on Michelin tyres for the factory test riders. Only in Sepang 2 will all current MotoGP riders get a run-out clad in the French manufacturer’s prototype slicks.
