Kent: “Every time I looked behind me I saw that huge pack'

Danny Kent celebrated a podium in the first race of the Moto3™ season onboard the Leopard Racing Honda.

The British rider battled at the front throughout a thrilling race at the Losail International Circuit, and finished in 3rd place to claim 16 vital World Championship points.

Danny Kent:
“I’m so happy for this third place because we’ve worked very hard since the beginning of this new project. All the winter tests went pretty well for us which has been demonstrated by the fact that we very strong in every session throughout the weekend, starting with Thursday evening’s fastest lap time in FP1. I straight away had a good feeling with bike here at Losail and we were very consistent. So from this point of view preparations for the race were done very well, as well we knew we had a good race pace too. The race itself was similar to last year, where a big group was leading the field and lap times dropped down to almost two-seconds slower than in practice sessions. I tried to get in front of the pack and as soon the pace slowed I tried to make a break to reduce the leading group to just two or three riders. But every time I looked behind me I saw that huge pack with eight, nine riders or something like that. Therefore I decided to work hard, ride a clever race till the end, and that paid off as I claimed the podium. In general it was a good weekend as we did a great job. So thanks to my team for their efforts as well to our sponsors who made it possible to bring this project to a high level from the very first moment - thanks a lot.”
