#Kent52Blog: “It felt so good to be back racing”

Leopard Racing’s Danny Kent discusses what it was like to be battling for the Moto3™ victory in Qatar, in his latest blog for motogp.com.

It felt so good to be back racing at the weekend. It was a long hard winter pushing myself to the maximum so I would come in to the 2015 season 100%, physically and mentally stronger than 2014, and as you can see it paid off.

I think the weekend went very well, myself and the team worked very hard in the preseason testing and we knew that coming to Qatar we had a very good chance to have a strong weekend. Right from FP1 I had a great feeling with the bike, I was able to do fast lap times by myself which made me stronger for the race and it was a great way to start the year.

Talking about the race, I’ve already watched it about 3 times already! It was a good race to watch but I can tell you it was a difficult one as a rider because there was a big group of riders and at every corner there was someone trying to overtake. My main objective was just to stay out of trouble not to get bashed around and to finish the race and get some good points which thankfully we were able to do.

As for my race tactics? Well, all weekend we showed we had a strong race pace and I had done fast lap times by myself, so for me I tried to get to the front of the group and try to break the group up a little.  But being a Moto3™ race, that wasn’t possible! It was a hard race to make a plan for because the group was too big and every time I came up with a plan, a rider would pass me and completely change everything. It was just one of those races where you had to be in right place right time, and we played it right and ended up on the podium.

There is only a 1 week break before we head to Austin, so my plan is to head home and prepare myself properly so I can arrive in America strong.

I can’t wait to get back out on the bike and see the team! I’d also like to give a big thanks to the team for working hard all weekend, to Honda for giving me a great package, and to my family, and my manager for their support :-)
