Laverty: “Not how I was hoping to debut in MotoGP™”

Electronic problems hinder Aspar Team rider Eugene Laverty during the race, despite making steady progress throughout the weekend.

Laverty was able to finish in 18th and as the second highest placed MotoGP™ rookie, despite problems. From the start the Irish rider was forced to adapt his riding style to work around a problem with the electronics on his Open Honda, resulting in a drop in lap times.

He remained upbeat, happy with the overall progress both he and the team have made during the weekend.

Eugene Laverty:
"Unfortunately I suffered electronic problems right from the start of the race, and I couldn’t ride as I had hoped. I was losing a lot of time compared to my laps from the rest of the weekend. It was not how I was hoping to debut in MotoGP but at least I managed to finish the race. Despite the setbacks I have tried to adapt to what I had. Apart from the race, we must be positive; we have progressed a lot over the weekend, we should take that from here and believe that in Austin we can keep improving."
