Rabat: “I am very happy to finally get a win this season”

Tito Rabat cannot hide his relief after taking his first victory of 2015 and getting his Moto2™ title defence back on track.

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS’s Rabat took his first race win of the season at Mugello, after a masterful performance saw him hold off a hard charging Johann Zarco. Having bided his time in the early laps the reigning Moto2 World Champion pounced on lap seven, wrestling the race lead from Dominique Aegerter, which he then held to the chequered flag.

The win saw Rabat move to second in the championship standings, as well as closing the gap to series leader Zarco to just 31 points. With three podiums in as many races, including the win today, the 26-year-old Spaniard’s title defence is definitely back on track.

Tito Rabat: "I am very happy to finally get a win this season, as it’s taken some hard work from both me and the team to get to this point. Every race we have improved and now we can win again, so big thanks to my crew, who have worked tirelessly to put us back on the top step of the podium. It was a tough race as I was having a few problems with the front in the last laps, but I knew I had enough left to hold off Zarco at the end.”
