Avintia Racing’s Hector Barbera had an operation to solve arm pump issues in his right forearm on the Monday following the #ItalianGP.
After suffering with discomfort during the last three races, Barbera went on Monday to Barcelona to see Dr Mir, confirming his suspicions. The MRI revealed that he was suffering from compartment syndrome, and he was operated on that afternoon.
The operation to ease the pressure on the extensor and flexor fascia took 70 minutes, with Barbera able to begin rehab within a week. Doctors deemed the procedure a success, and his team are hopeful the Spaniard will be fit to defend his lead in the Open class at the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya, although they will assess his condition next week.
