On the start line, we were very concentrated. We knew what we had to do. Even though we’d hardly slept…
In his official blog for boxrepsol.com Marc Marquez discusses his weekend at the Italian GP in Mugello:
Right now we’re still in Italy, but we’ll be returning today. Yesterday we had a test day after the Grand Prix.
Despite the fall that I had at the end of the race, I felt great during Sunday, which left us with positive vibes. We planned the race one way and things went as planned… except for the mistake I made, what a bummer!
On Saturday things got complicated for us, but the team did a great job and the planning for Sunday was impeccable.
On the starting line we were very concentrated. We knew what we had to do. Even though we’d hardly slept! Well, actually I’m exaggerating a bit… but not that much. After watching the finals of the Copa del Rey with my brother, we went to sleep and had to put earplugs in. The partying from the Italians outside on the hill was incredible. It’s by far the noisiest GP of the year.
Back to what I was telling you: we knew that everything would be fine with a good start, and I concentrated 1000% on it. And everything turned out well. I was able to watch it on TV later on and it was nice seeing how well we were able to start the race.
Maybe, as I was saying before, the fall “hid” some of the rest of the weekend’s feelings, but I started in 13th place and the plan that the team had come up with was going perfectly. And there we were, fighting for second place.
I want to thank the team and everyone from Honda for the great job that they did. I know that if we continue like this, with the hard work and effort that is being put into this, we will turn this situation around and we’ll soon be fighting for the top spot on the podium again.
In fact, the next date is at home. See you soon!
Question of the week:
Hey Marc! My question is: If you had to choose one circuit based on its route, which one would you choose? Why? Thanks! Question from Tania Vázquez
Hey Tania. I’d go with Motorland Aragón. It’s also very close to Cervera so my family and friends often go there. It’s always a very special GP. Apart from that, I like it for many reasons: the track itself, its curves, I find it to be an easy route, I have some great memories there…
