ADAC Northern Europe Cup heading to Sweden in 2018

Moto3 series announced as heading to Anderstorp for the first time - with the full 2018 Cup schedule to be published shortly

The ADAC Northern Europe Cup is off to Sweden next year. The junior series will contest a meeting in Sweden for the first time during its third season, lining up at the Scandinavian Raceway in Anderstorp, 11th - 13th May. Already finalised are three other dates for the 2018 ADAC Northern Europe Cup as well. The Moto3 series will again be divided into a Standard and a Grand Prix class next year and be contested mainly on Grand Prix circuits within the context of top motorcycling events.

The Anderstorp circuit, built in 1968, is very famous - with the Scandinavian Raceway's 4.018-km long straight even used as an aircraft runway. Formula 1 held its races at the Swedish circuit from 1973 to 1978, and the Motorcycle World Championship was staged there from 1971 to 1977, then again from 1981 through to 1990. Grand Prix legends, including Giacomo Agostini, Barry Sheene, Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson and Wayne Rainey, have all won the Swedish Grand Prix at the Raceway in the past. After extensive modernisation work, and in conjunction with the Swedish Motorsport Association, Anderstorp is now ready to welcome the ADAC Northern Europe Cup riders in 2018. The ADAC NEC will be staged there in mid-May together with the Swedish Moto3 Championship.

But first, the young talents will kick off the 2018 season with some initial practice sessions at Italy’s Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, 25th - 27th March. Other meetings already fixed for next year include the race in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben during German Speedweek, 8th - 10th June, and the event at the Sachsenring where they will join MotoGP’s top stars under the banner of the Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany, July 13th - 15th. The 2018 ADAC Northern Europe Cup calendar will be published in full very soon.
