Corsi: “I used the soft tyre on the last run”

Simone Corsi returns to the head of Moto2™ at the Motul TT Assen almost a year after his wrist injury.

Moto2™ veteran Simone Corsi of Athina Forward Racing returns to the front of the field for the first time since his career threatening accident at the British GP last year. The Roman was pleased with his progress on the first day but is worried for the rain that may come tomorrow. A 1’37.866 put Corsi just 0.196s behind Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) who led the day.

Corsi’s last podium in the class came at the German Grand Prix last year where he finished third. His best qualifying so far this year been seventh in Argentina and Mugello and has been floating around the third row for much of the year.

Simone Corsi: “Today the second position is a good result and I am very happy. The bike is not so bad and the feeling is very good. I used the soft tyre on the last run and had a really good feeling. I hope tomorrow it’s dry. The plan for tomorrow is the same as today, use two soft tyres in Qualifying and see what happens.”
