 Rossi leads the way in FP1 on new frame

Valentino Rossi made use of the new frame on his Movistar Yamaha to top FP1 ahead of Marquez and Pedrosa.

The sun came out and track temperatures reached 25 degrees Celsius at the TT Circuit Assen as Valentino Rossi set the pace in MotoGP™ FP1 with a 1’34.547.

Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez, who was using lasts year’s frame on his RC213V, recovered from a crash on his out-lap to finish in second, just 0.195s behind Rossi. Marquez’s teammate Dani Pedrosa (+0.213s) was in third, ahead of the second Factory Yamaha M1 of Jorge Lorenzo (+0.415s).

The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 duo of Pol Espargaro (+0.570s) and Bradley Smith (+0.685s) were in fifth and sixth respectively. Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Maverick Viñales was seventh, with his teammate Aleix Espargaro 0.125s further back in eighth.

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) and Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Racing) completed the top ten.
